NEMO  - The Network of European Museum Organisations

The independent network of museum associations and similar bodies representing the museum community of Europe

 

ICOM - International Council of Museums

ICOM is the international organisation of museums and museum professionals. Created in 1946, ICOM is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) maintaining formal relations with UNESCO and having a consultative status with the United Nations' Economic and Social Council.

 

UNESCO Office in Venice: Dealing with difficult heritage, education on history in South East Europe

So far (February 2011), this initiative has organised one workshop and one conference. The workshop in Berlin in January 2011 was organised on the occasion of the international exhibit “Hitler and the Germans. Nation and Crime” and was a joint initiative with the German Historical Museum and the German Commission for UNESCO. In collaboration with various organisations, the initiative also organised “National History Museums in South-East Europe: Learning History, building shared memories”, 18-19 October 2010 in Thessaloniki, Greece. LEM - The Learning Museum

“LEM - The Learning Museum” is a network project funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme Grundtvig (2010-2013) which aims to establish a permanent network and webspace for museums and adult educators to participate in a learning society and in a knowledge based Europe.
